Austin, TX (April 13, 2017) – The middle schools campuses in Northeast ISD, in San Antonio, are getting their track systems replaced by Hellas Construction. This contract is for installation of Hellas’ own epiQ Track X1000 track surface at 13 different campuses.

“We are excited to be given the opportunity to work with the Northeast ISD district. It’s nice to be their choice for all of their track needs,” said Hellas Vice President Bob Allison. “We look forward to see their athletes running on our first class track systems.”

Executive Athletic Director at NEISD, Karen Funk visited other tracks in the area before making a decision on which company to choose to install their tracks. “Hellas has a good quality product and a successful career of putting in these tracks,” said Funk. “We had an expert come in to look at the tracks and he talked about Hellas being a great option because they don’t use a lot of subcontractors and they can control the quality of the product and the time frame a project is finished in.”

The construction has already begun and will continue though August this year at Driscoll, Eisenhower, Garner, Krueger, Nimitz, White, and Wood. The second round of improvements will start January 2018 through August 2018, at Bradley, Bush, Harris, Lopez, Tejeda, and Tex Hill Middle Schools.

“It’s great to see Northeast ISD upgrading facilities at the intermediate schools and bring them up to the same competitive level of the high schools,” Allison said.

Funk said, “We had the cinder tracks and they were getting washed away. They just don’t last very long, so we decided to go with the all-weather tracks.” She said, “We felt like it was worth the investment to provide a great surface for our kids. The all-weather tracks will help the kids and help their physical education programs.”

The x1000 epiQ Tracks® track system is IAAF certified, which means The International Association of Athletics Federations certifies our synthetic track products have been tested and meet the technical requirements for use in all international athletics competitions.

“It’s a one of the most durable track systems on the market,” Allison said. “This is a great track for any high traffic facility.”
