BOBCAT STADIUM PURCHASES TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD

Dimmitt, TX (June 27, 2018) – The Dimmitt Bobcats will be on the hunt for victory this fall on a new, technologically advanced synthetic turf field. Hellas’ Matrix® Turf with Helix Technology, Ecotherm® infill, and a Cushdrain® pad will be replacing the existing natural grass at Bobcat Stadium.

Dimmitt Superintendent Bryan Davis said, “We’ve been looking to switch from grass for a long time. Hellas’ quality is well-known. A few of us went out and toured several fields, all on the same day, comparing the different surfaces from different companies. Once we walked on the field at Plainview ISD, our decision was made. It was a 90° day, and the field felt great, not hot.”

Ecotherm infill is the latest innovation, exclusive to Hellas Construction, patent pending. It is 100% recyclable and made from recycled vinyl TPU and cellulose fibers. The uniquely shaped granules pull moisture from the air, reducing field surface temperatures as much as 20° or more, versus the surface temperature of a synthetic turf field with black crumb rubber.

“We really liked the way the Plainview field looked and felt,” said Davis.

The twisted fibers of the Matrix Helix turf give the turf a softer feel that bounces back quickly, securing the infill. The Matrix Helix Turf is the turf the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins use. The Cushdrain pad adds softness and protection for players while maintaining the planarity of the field and allowing for rapid drainage in the event of a downpour.

“There’s nothing like football in small-town Texas,” Davis said. “It’s all about the kids. We can’t wait to get out and play.”
