Track Installation

Installing a first class running track requires precision and attention to detail

Hellas’ skilled track crews have perfected construction and installation methods for each unique system in order to deliver the fastest tracks all over America.

First, they build a roadway with a stone base and two layers of asphalt, along with an interior trench drain. The outward layer of asphalt is a smoother surface mix that will create a natural bond with the running track surface.

The asphalt application is crucial to constructing a running track per the standards set forth by the governing bodies of NFHSA, the World Athletics, and ASBA. In order to ensure longevity, a precise slope and planarity is required, as well as ensuring that the base and asphalt are bonded with an interior and exterior concrete curb.

A 400-meter, regulation, eight-lane track with typical sized event areas is approximately 5,500 square yards in size. Runways and throwing pads are preferably constructed of concrete rather than asphalt.

Adequate drainage is crucial to maintaining the integrity and longevity of a synthetic track surface and its sub-base materials. Due to this, epiQ TRACKS are designed with a respective drainage structure.
